Anona waited until he was in a deep sleep she packed up her things getting dressed. She kissed his forehead so lightly he might think it was a dream and left, she walked quickly to leave the town she had a hide out that the order had yet to find her in. She would reach the hideout by noon. The place was beautiful it was small tunnel that lead into an underground cave that had a pool of water it was the closest thing she had to home. She had even set up a few things there so she could relax for a few days while she was hunted only she knew of it's location a few small clue were around but not many.

Fryan felt someone nearby and there was no doubt in his mind that it wasn’t Anona. It worried him that there was a strange person in the room and Anona was nowhere he could feel. His eyes were still closed so as not to alert the person that he was awake. The person moved slowly around the bed moving over toward Fryan’s side of the bed. In a sudden flash Fryan’s dagger that he had hidden under the pillow flashed out and came up to the persons neck stopping just short of cutting the man’s throat. “Finbar? What are you doing here?” the man sighed shaking his head as he worked his tunic out of Fryan’s hand. “The counsel sent me they said that they needed to talk to you now!” Fryan sat up looking a bit worried this was weird considering what had just happened last night and all the things that he and Anona had been talking about. Something told him that this wasn’t going to end well, he grabbed his clothes and quickly got ready but then stopped, “What about Anona? She will wonder how I just disappeared. “ Finbar shook his head, “No she left early this morning before you woke, we lost track of her as usual and the Counsel isn’t happy that you let her get away.” Fryan just nodded in a bit of shock that she left…she doesn’t trust me anymore…it was a harsh truth but it also galvanized him into regaining that trust whatever it took.

Anona had left him a clue in his clothing that only he would find it would give a hint of a vague location only he would know how but it would only work if he was truly on her side. She managed to finally get into her hiding place she dropped her pack going to her makeshift bed. She laid down silently and just stayed there with her eyes closed. He had hurt her a great deal, she felt betrayed but it also hurt that she had left him behind the only man she'd had feelings like that for was a man who had intended to betray her and feed her to the wolves. That caused her more pain than he could even begin to imagine. Right now she was trying to close all of these feelings out and to recede back into that emotionless shrew she'd been when he first met her. She wished she could just forget but she couldn't.

Fryan walked out of the room his mind churning as he had asked a lot of hard questions. The council had remained elusive and refused to answer a lot of his direct questions. The said that he needed time to think over his exposure to the world. He knew what that meant…he would be watched. However he didn’t care he went right for the hidden archives. Everyone was allowed entrance to them but few that went in ever lived long. The next hour was spent pouring over the magically kept records of every member of the order. What he found appalled him, they had done all the things that she said and more. He drew out one more volume and was almost scared to open it. Finally he drew together the courage and looked…

Anona closed her eyes tightly she had become connected to him partially she knew that he would find something that would hurt him deeply very soon and she already knew what that was. The one thing that had pushed him to join the order had been done by the order, but she feared for him he wouldn't be safe if he went to them. He would had to check the inside of his shirt she burnt lightly something into she hoped he would find it in time to save himself and get out of there.

The book snapped closed hard. Fryan’s eyes clouded with tears of anger and pain. They were going to pay for this and many other things that he was sure they had done. He heard a movement behind him and was instantly turning around his sword drawn cutting into the man at neck level. The man was merely a scholar but that didn’t matter right now he was a member of the order and that was enough. He knew they would be after him in moments but he didn’t care right now. For now all he was out for was vengeance. His bow came out and was strung by the time he reached the door. Kicking it open as he knocked an arrow instantly glad he did as the guards were already closing in on the archive. He downed one with a quick back pull and then began loading the next arrow. The council had been watching and knew what he had found out they wanted him dead.

Anona fell asleep her mind wandering to the scene his skin would start to glow slightly and soon there was a blast sending all the guards backward giving him time to escape she hoped he would take this chance she did not want him to die she wanted him to live to prove to her that he loved her. She started destroying every weapon there except for his and few others. She would not allow him to die she squirmed painfully in ehr sleep this was draining her a great deal but he was well worth it.

He didn’t even notice the glowing of his skin as another guard fell to his arrows. Then suddenly they all fell. He blinked not understanding what was happening, but he got the sudden feeling that he was being given a chance to get away. Thanking wordlessly whoever it was that was providing the chance he was off racing down the halls and finally leaping out of a second story window to the street below. There was some pursuit but he was lost in the crowds soon. he could feel something rubbing against his chest on the inside of his shirt and quickly finding a alley he checked it out finding her mark and a simple hint. It was several days ride to where the hint was leading him but if she was there he would go.

Anona fell into a deep sleep it would take some time to recover from the energy she just used which would take longer since the forces that hid her were drawing energy from her. Her skin grew pale from how weak she was right now. She was nearly to the point where she would be too weak to function but she managed to keep alert enough to know if some one found her. She hoped he would make it safely she had done for him all that she could for now it would take her at least a day to fully recover in order to help him like that again. But her energy still remained with him it protected him from serious harm.

Two days later Fryan was slipping through the shadow moving from tree to tree. He was certain that no one had followed him but he also knew it was best not to take chances. His dark green eyes cast about the woods looking for two things, first signs of pursuit because the last thing he wanted to do was lead the order to Anona; and second for the marks he had begun to see now and then as he got closer. He spotted one and moved in that direction finally coming to a rock concealing a low opening barely enough room for a human to slip through.

He spent the next hour laying false trails and clearing the real ones before returning to the opening and slowly slipping through. He crawled on his belly pushing forward knowing this was the way he was meant to go and if it meant he could be with her again he would go through hell itself.

Anona was in a very deep sleep still protecting him and scattering his location had left her drained. She could feel her body being drained away. she curled up tighter as if to hide. She felt herself growing weaker she was tired of fighting she feared as she was starting to lose touch with him that she had nothing left to fight for perhaps humanity wasn't worth protecting perhaps their lives weren't all this insanity. She was losing her mind at last, but she would not give in fully. She would not let the order use her she was not some tool she a living being She couldn't really call herself human anymore she nothing more than a half breed trapped between the world of humans and the gods. She would fit in with neither of them.

Fryan slipped through the narrow crawl space coming out into a large open cave. It was dimly lit with a few candles hear and there and a small stove was to one side. He could see in a darkened alcove a small pool of water and then another alcove closed by a curtain. He moved over to the curtain hearing soft shallow breathing coming from behind it. Pushing the curtain back he smiled down at her seemingly sleeping form and knelt down next to her his hand brushing through her hair and his lips touching her shoulder lightly, “Anona…”

Anona slowly opened her eyes she was too weak right now to do much else she needed to rest and recover part of her still distrusted him and part of her couldn't ever push him away. She looked up at him silently she needed to rest so she could keep them hidden. She was dieing inside from all that ran through her head. She needed many things right now she removed the protective barrier from him and absorbed what energy was left from it. She felt a little better but she quickly closed her eyes again and went back to sleep.

Fryan could see how badly hurting she was. His hand brushed against her forehead for a moment then went over to the cooking area. Pulling a pot of water from the pool he set it on the top of the stove and then started the fire again that had gone out days ago. It wasn’t long before there was a gentle warmth filling the room. He found a few supplies and began making a light soup for when she woke.

Anona slowly opened her eyes several hours later she was still very weak but she would recover more quickly now. she slowly sat up looking around she saw him "I'm surprised you came" she said softly she had shut him out a bit she was trying to protect herself he had lied to her and didn't even bother to tell her until she had already fallen in love with him. "have you returned to stab me in the back?' she asked a bit coldly she didn't trust him not anymore.

He had been sitting watching her as she slept when she woke. He smiled nodding his head, “I deserved that I am surprised that you let me enter here after what I have done.” He stood walking over to the pot and pulling out a bowl of the soup. “I know that I hurt you and that I will have a lot of work ahead of me to regain your trust but you need to know I am entirely with you now. I didn’t know what the order had done before…I have see now in their own records what they did to you and…others” his eyes had started to tear up as he held out the bowl to her not saying what he had found in the records about himself, not yet at least.

She could sense the pain that he felt "you found out the truth about your mate didn't you?" she said softly she didn't even look at him she took the soup and started to sip it she knew he wouldn't poison her but she still distrusted him. "why did you bother coming to me? or is the only reason because now you are going to be hunted because you killed some of your own?" she said coldly she wanted him to see what he had done. She wanted him to feel her pain as strongly as she felt it. She finished her bowl and set it down walking away from him. She walked over to the pool looking into the water.

He sighed nodding just watching her move around the cave. “I came back to you for two reasons. First and most importantly I want to be with you, you and I both understand what it is to be alone and we were both made that way by the order.” He stood up walking up behind her his hands resting on her shoulders as he gently nuzzled into her hair, “And second I am here to help you destroy the order for all the evil they have done in this world.” Gently he turned her to face him lifting her chin softly looking into her eyes, “I never expect to ever have you love again, I never deserved it; but please don’t push me away I still love you and want to always be here beside you to help you however I can.”

She looked at him his touch weakened her as it had since the first time she kissed him. "I have done all I was ever intended for I have mated. All I was ever intended for was to produce offspring nothing more." she said softly. She looked him in the eyes and moved away "I haven't washed in several days I need to I was too busy...." she stopped she didn't want to admit that despite all of this that she had helped protect him to get him here safely. She looked down for a long moment "I spent the past few days keeping you alive." she whispered softly. She slowly removed everything but her tunic just like before and started to get into the water.

He stopped her as she started into the water. “That was you helping me?” his eyes shone with love and admiration. “Thank you Anona.” He leaned down gently kissing her lips then just pressing his forehead to hers for a moment more, “May I join you?” he looked into her eyes meaning more than just joining her in the bath although that was what had made him ask the question that way. He wanted to be with her from here on no matter what that meant. He knew that she had been hiding from becoming attached to people because she had been badly hurt before by losing the ones she cared about so he gave her the choice…would she let him join her.

Anona looked at him "I don't know why I helped you after what happened but I did you have no choice but to join me in this fight or you will die I want to know that the reason is more than just the fact that without me they will kill you. and how do I know I won't be anything more than a bargaining chip to you?" she said softly she moved away from him after he kissed her she did not want him to touch her she had only allowed him to be with her that night because she had been drawn into a fog of lust and then it was also her chance to escape him.

His eyes narrowed a bit as she accused him of only wanting to save his own hide. “That’s not true and I never ever would do that.” His hands came to her shoulders then wrapped around her tightly holding her close to his chest. “I will never do that I love you and I only came here because I believed that I could help keep you safer than if I was out there alone and you were also alone.” He moved around looking into her eyes the hurt of her brushing him away like that evident in his eyes. “I would die to protect you Anona can’t you see that?”

"I'm not worth dying for." she whispered she looked down her face being burried in his chest as tears formed "you don't see what you did to me" she whispered "you brought me out of my world of darkness and then you hurt me and I still love you I don't know why or how but I do" she whimpered she pounded her fist angrily against his chest "I was so weak when you got here because I used my energy to protect you" she whispered she looked up at him then pressed her lips against his. He was killing her inside she wrapped her arms around his neck.

His hand came up stroking her hair softly leaning down to kiss the soft tangle that they were in his own eyes brimming with tears. He let her kiss him returning it with all of his heart his hands slipping behind her neck and one around her waist pulling her close to him as his tears ran down his cheeks some slipping to his lips adding a salt taste to the kiss. He whispered against her lips softly, “I’m sorry Anona I never would have hurt you…” he dropped down to his knees in front of her burring his face into the tunic covering her stomach and crying hard truly heartbroken over what he had done, “…I never meant to hurt you.”

She slowly slid down to join him she held his chin softly and kissed him deeply and passionately "I love you so much no matter you do it feels like I will never let you go" she whispered she cried softly as she kissed him. she leaned into him not wanting the kiss to end she loved him so dearly her heart was falling apart this was almost more than she could handle. She had some one that was completely hers that she could protect and love.
